Our Story

Our Story

King’s Cross Church began as a prayer among the leadership of Crossroads Church and Archbold Evangelical Church to see the gospel of Jesus Christ further transform our region.  In 2011 these two churches formed a partnership with the goal of establishing a new community of believers in Defiance.

The Lord directed a few people from both of these churches to start meeting together in Defiance, again, to pray.  As the Lord answered prayers, and as we loved our neighbors in simple ways, this tiny group slowly grew.  We started in homes, and that’s where the life of our church will always stay.   The center of our church life has always been meeting in homes to share meals, pray, encourage and challenge one another through God’s Word.

The founding churches called Sam Andres to be the lead pastor of King’s Cross Church. He trained a core team of people committed to seeing the gospel shine brighter in Defiance. In September 2013 we started meeting on Sunday mornings at The Skylark, a youth center in Defiance.  We continued to meet in homes for Discipleship Groups and Gospel Life Groups.

As King’s Cross Church has grown, we have been the church on the move. We had our first Sunday gathering at the Defiance College Campus, in Schomburg Auditorium in June 2014 and met there for two years.

Our current space is the lovely Stroede Center for the Arts in downtown Defiance. We have been meeting there since August of 2016. In the winter of 2015, we renovated a shop space on the corner of 2nd Street and now enjoy our Commons and Office space at 512 2nd Street. There we have meetings, studies, and parties. And by God’s grace, we will continue to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ and worship God anywhere for including us in his great gospel story.
