The Gospel Coalition Article

“Downplaying the Sin of Homosexuality Won’t Win the Next Generation” by J. D. Greear

The KCC pastors commend this article to you. We agree that if we’re going to faithful and loving missionaries to our neighbors, we need to be clear about God’s standards for holy sexuality.
“Ambiguity on this issue isn’t kindness. Clarity is.”

MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

March 5th & 12th | 12:00-2:00PM

We believe that the church is the family of God on the mission of God. We love one another as brothers and sisters. Yet we are also missionaries who are teaming up to advance God’s kingdom. We believe this is best lived out in the context of covenant membership in a local church.

A small lunch will be provided so please RSVP if you are planning to attend.

If you can only make one session, you can still pursue membership. You can makeup the session by listening to the Membership Matters podcast and then we will follow up with you. Please let us know if you are planning to attend by clicking on the corresponding button below.

40 Days of Prayer Challenge

Wednesday, February 22, 2023 – Saturday, April 8, 2023

40 Days of Prayer Challenge has three main elements.

  1. Increased commitment to prayer.
  2. Periodically fasting from food and abstaining from distractions.
  3. Connecting regularly with a small community of brothers or sisters in Christ.

KCC wants to form disciples of Jesus who are passionate worshipers. God has opened our eyes to His glory so we want to live to delight in Him. Historically the church has practiced Lent as a season of increased prayer, fasting, and discipline to prepare for remembering Christ’s death on Good Friday and His resurrection on Easter Sunday. The forty days of Lent (not counting Sundays) look back to Jesus’ forty days of fasting in the wilderness in preparation for His ministry of preaching, healing, and training disciples.

There is nothing in the scriptures that requires us to practice Lent. If you choose not to participate in the 40 Day Prayer Challenge, nobody is calling into question your love for God. However, Lent can be a spiritually beneficial practice if our heart is to go deeper in our relationship with God. Because of our faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross, we already have God’s favor on the basis of His free gift! The spiritual disciplines are given to us to stoke our spiritual fervor, not to earn God’s favor.

New City Catechism: Question 7

Question: What does the law of God require?

Answer*Personal, perfect, and perpetual obedience; that we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and love our neighbor as ourselves. What God forbids should never be done and what God commands should always be done.

*Children’s answer is the bold text

Weekly Fighter Verse: Psalm 37:3-4

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

We Would Love to Pray for You

We would love to pray for you! Some people think that only major crises of life are worth praying for, but the truth is that everyone needs prayer for something. James 4:2 says that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we do we often have false or impure motives. So the first step is to ask. So please come and let us pray for you in person at our Sunday worship gathering. Or, if you would like prayer now, just click the button below and fill out the form and we will pray for you.

Biblical Counseling at KCC

Life is full of things to be discouraged about, and it can be overwhelming. We believe that Jesus offers real help, hope, and healing in the difficulties of life. We believe that the power of God’s Word and Spirit offers hope of life change from the inside out. So we offer biblical counseling to those needing the comfort and wisdom of Scripture. While we believe God can work through various methods of counseling, our lead counselors are certified through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). We also have pastors and other counselors who have received training from Faith Biblical Counseling, and are able and willing to counsel according to the Scriptures.

If you would like to explore meeting with one of our counselors, please fill out the contact form by clicking on the button below and we will try to match you with someone.

Giving

We understand skepticism about online giving, which is why we have an Online Giving Frequently Asked Questions page on our website that explains how it works. Here are a few ways to give :
  1. Give online by clicking on the “GIVE ONLINE” button which takes you to our secure transaction site.
  2. Send your check or money order by mail, made out to King’s Cross Church.

  3. Drop in giving box on Sundays at the YMCA.

Compassion Fund

We know that with many businesses and services being shut down, people are losing jobs and struggling to pay their bills. If you are in need of help, we would like to know. We have a Compassion Fund for this reason. Fill out the film below as best you can and we will follow up with you.
