TGC Article

By Christian Roth, Church Planter in Denmark and KCC Ministry Partner

When we’re isolated from the highways and big cities of the world, it’s easy to feel hidden even from the eye of God. But it’s often in our solitude that God forms us into the greatest tools for his glory. Like diamonds buried under the mountains, we’re hardened and refined there.

Acts 5:29
“We must obey God rather than men.”

Weekly New City Catechism

Question 3: How many persons are there in God?

Answer*: There are three persons in the one true and living God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

*Children’s answer is the bold text

Next Sunday's Sermon Text

Exodus 7:1-13 (ESV)

And the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land. But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment. The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.” Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as the Lord commanded them. Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Prove yourselves by working a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.’” So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts. For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. Still Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

HOST A STUDENT FROM BASQUE COUNTRY

Summer In The USA (SUSA)

We are looking for KCC families willing and able to host teen students from Basque Country as they are here as a part of the Summer in the USA (SUSA) program. The simple act of welcoming students into our homes is a powerful way to allow God’s love to flow through our lives. You can show this life changing hospitality by inviting a Basque student to be part of your family for the month of July. If you have questions or would like to volunteer to house some of the visiting students, please reach out to us.

Stories from Fellowship of Evangelical Churches

Last summer, over seventy students visited FEC families in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio from the Basque Country in Spain. This part of Spain is smaller than New Jersey but has maintained a special relationship with FEC for the past 15 years says Jason Coon, an American who lives and works with the exchange programs in Spain. “Students and families in the Basque Country frequently tell me what an incredible experience their student had, how they felt so loved, and how surprising it was to see faith lived in a relevant way.”

Students stay with families through the month of July practicing English and experiencing everyday activities like shopping, sporting events, church, barbecues, and youth group. One of the weeks is spent at Miracle Camp, an FEC retreat center in Lawton, Michigan, where students meet other teenagers, camp, go to chapel services, and do activities. “Many of them have never experienced anything like that before,” says Jason.

The goal this year is for eighty families to host students in the Midwest and any new states, regions, or FEC churches interested. Jason has seen time and again what a blessing it is for American families to meet and do life with these students. “It is an incredible experience to personally get to know someone from another culture. The opportunity to host a stranger from another country is a great way to show hospitality and the love of God. Families do this as they live their normal lives, not doing anything out of the ordinary, and being authentic examples of the grace and love of God in their own lives.”

Jason especially loves when an American family travels to the Basque Country to see their student. “It is incredible to see the Basque families reciprocate the experience and show their gratitude for all that has been done for their student.” This, among other opportunities, deepens this cross-continental relationship beyond a single month in the summer.

SUNDAY PRAYER MEETING

Every Sunday | 9:00am

We are reviving a weekly prayer meeting at 9:00am in the Prayer Room/Mother’s Lounge. Everyone is invited to come seek the Lord together and pray for gospel renewal in our church, our community and around the world. Let’s outgrow this room in our devotion to prayer as a church.

“We need a work of the Holy Ghost of a supernatural kind, putting power into the preaching of the Word, inspiring all believers with heavenly energy, and solemnly affecting the hearts of the careless so that they may turn to God and live.” -C. H. Spurgeon, Only a Prayer Meeting.
