Weekly Fighter Verse

Romans 5:9-10
Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

Weekly New City Catechism

Question 11: What does God require in the sixth, seventh, and eighth commandments?

Answer*: Sixth, that we do not hurt, or hate, or be hostile to our neighbor, but be patient and peaceful, pursuing even our enemies with love. Seventh, that we abstain from sexual immorality and live purely and faithfully, whether in marriage or in single life, avoiding all impure actions, looks, words, thoughts, or desires, and whatever might lead to them. Eighth, that we do not take without permission that which belongs to someone else, nor withhold any good from someone we might benefit.

Ephesians 4:17-24 (ESV)

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Sign-ups open till May 14th

One of KCC’s core identities is that we are disciples. Jesus calls us to take up our cross, so we learn from Scripture to follow Christ as our King. The purpose of Discipleship Groups (DGs) is to equip everyone in our church to help others follow Jesus. DGs are groups of 2-5 people of the same gender who meet regularly to read Scripture or gospel-saturated books, pray, and share in the joys and struggles of life. May 8th | 6:30pm @ The Fellowship Hall

One of our core identities is that we are witnesses, so we labor to declare Christ’s cross. It’s important to be prepared to give an answer for the hope we have in Jesus with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15), so we encourage you to come to this workshop led by Brian McKanna.

Giving Tuesday Africa

Below is a letter of thanks from Robert Manda and New Life Church for the drought relief they received. ACPI sends us their heartfelt gratitude as well.

Vote of Thanks

On behalf of all FEC Churches in Malawi, I would like to thank ACPIA and every person who contributed to the donation of purchasing corn for the many hungry families in Malawi. The donation has been distributed to more than 300 families. Hunger situation is still around since many parts didn’t receive adequate rain due to dry spells and lack of fertilizer.

Three weeks ago, the Malawi president declared a national emergency in 23 districts/counties out of 28 counties across the country. I almost cried to hear one woman giving testimony:

“Pastor I have stayed for three days without food and today
God has answered my prayers to have food for the next one
month. Thank you, Church, for your timely support.”

They are many testimonies of women and men expressing deep gratitude because of this kind gesture to provide them with food . . . Keep Malawi in your prayers as we pass through this critical situation. God bless you.

-Bishop Robert Manda

LifeWise Academy will soon be holding their annual BBQ Chicken Dinner, serving Brookview chicken, a side of vegetables, potatoes, a dinner roll, and dessert. Tickets are $10 each. Contact Jean M. or hello@kingscrossdefiance.com to buy tickets.

Every Sunday | 9:00am

We are reviving a weekly prayer meeting at 9:00am in the Prayer Room/Mother’s Lounge. Everyone is invited to come seek the Lord together and pray for gospel renewal in our church, our community and around the world. Let’s outgrow this room in our devotion to prayer as a church.

“We need a work of the Holy Ghost of a supernatural kind, putting power into the preaching of the Word, inspiring all believers with heavenly energy, and solemnly affecting the hearts of the careless so that they may turn to God and live.” -C. H. Spurgeon, Only a Prayer Meeting.
