Weekly New City Catechism

Question 31: What do we believe by true faith?

Answer*: Everything taught to us in the gospel. The Apostles’ Creed expresses what we believe in these words: We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Gospel Life Groups

GOSPEL LIFE GROUPs

Signup Now – September 10th | via Church App or Connect Card

The mission of Gospel Life Groups (GLG) is to bring the gospel into everyday life as the family of God on the mission of God. GLGs are one of the main avenues for King’s Cross Church members and attendees to express KCC’s Core Identities.

Each GLG gathers together 2-4 times a month in homes to build one another up through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship. Each group is made up of between 12-20 people and has the feel of a large family or a mildly rowdy party. This year, as usual, we’ll launch Gospel Life Groups in mid-September. They will meet regularly until December, start up again in January, and meet until May.

Reserve Your T-shirt Before September 3rd!

We are now taking reservations for the new King’s Cross Church t-shirts (see attached image for example). We are offering the shirts at cost (about $13-$15 each depending on our total order quantity). Once the t-shirts arrive (mid-late September estimate) I will connect with you on how to submit the donation to cover the cost of your shirts and afterwards where to pickup your shirts.

The sign-up for these t-shirts is only open through Sunday, September 3rd, so don’t wait. This is a custom order so we can’t guarantee availability of extra shirts after the sign-up deadline.

We are offering adult and youth sizes (sorry, no sizes for toddlers or babies).

*Note: these shirts tend to run on the large size so you should be safe to order the size below what you typically would wear (Example: If you usually wear a large, order a medium instead). If in doubt on the size, refer to the measurements provided (see attached spec sheets).

New Song for Sunday

Good and Gracious King

CityAlight

Some of the most misunderstood character attributes of God are His goodness and graciousness. In the midst of suffering, we doubt His goodness, rarely His power: How could a good God allow suffering? In the midst of sinful rebellion, we doubt His graciousness: How could a pure and holy God tolerate sinful and impure people? But despite our feelings and experiences, God is good and gracious. We need to be reminded of this especially when we don’t experience these attributes or when everything seems to point to the contrary. We need to be reminded of the gospel that God saves sinners because of who He is and not because of who we are (or are not). In response to His good and gracious character, we can repent of sin and boldly sing these words:

I approach the throne of gloryNothing in my hands I bringBut the promise of acceptanceFrom a good and gracious King…

O what grace that You would see meAs Your child and as Your friendSafe, secure in You foreverI pour out my praise again…

You deserve the greater gloryOvercome with joy I singBy Your love I am acceptedYou’re a good and gracious King

KCC Loop Newsletter Prayer

We Would Love to Pray for You

Some people think that only major crises of life are worth praying for, but the truth is that everyone needs prayer for something. James 4:2 says that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we do we often have false or impure motives. So the first step is to ask. So please come and let us pray for you in person at our Sunday worship gathering. Or, if you would like prayer now, just click the button below and fill out the form and we will pray for you.
