As we were reminded in last Sunday’s sermon, God’s kingdom outlasts every other kingdom. Unlike all the kingdoms that have come and gone from this earth, God’s kingdom is eternal and will have no end. This is significant for Christians, because we are part of this eternal kingdom. The “kingdoms” we build here are like sand castles in comparison. The Bible encourages us to put our trust in God’s kingdom and to seek His kingdom precisely because it is eternal and will not be destroyed. To that end, let us seek God’s kingdom alone for all other kingdoms will crumble.

Our church has been participating in 21 Days of Fasting, which culminates in a prayer gathering with other evangelical churches in Defiance, called “Defiance United Prayer.” This event will be hosted at Xperience Church (1500 N Clinton St Suite 3, Defiance, OH 43512) at 6:30pm. As it seems like the rest of the world is dividing, this will be a time to come together with other churches in Defiance as an expression of unity to pray. Due to social distancing and seating limitations, you will need to register in advance. Registration is FREE. Childcare will be available for children through Kindergarten. Gospel Life Groups (GLGs) are primary way of getting to know one another at a relational level. GLG’s consist of a group of people getting together for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. With COVID-19 restrictions, it is increasingly difficult to stay connected to people. To help facilitate connectivity, we have GLGs that meet in person and online. Each group meets in homes and decides how to best go about precautions. However, we do have GLGs that meet via Zoom for those who want to remain connected to people but are uncomfortable meeting in person. The bottom link is the actual Zoom address link for the online GLG that meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month @ 7pm.

We are starting another round of Theology For Breakfast beginning next week. We will be offering two classes: Every other Monday evening @ 7pm starting February 1st and every other Tuesday morning at 6:30am starting February 2nd. Each class goes for 12 weeks (so 6 meetings total) on Zoom. Theology For Breakfast is open to men and women who want to know God more deeply. It will be a combination of lecture and discussion class based on the weekly work that people will do (yes, there will be homework). For more information, click on the button below.

We are declaring February 7th as a Sacrifice Sunday.  While we continue to request masks throughout our gatherings every Sunday, Sacrifice Sunday will be a particular time to focus to share the sacrificial love of Christ with those who are most vulnerable, so that they can come to our worship gathering, take communion, and experience the love of their church family as we worship together. It is our request that people not exempted under the Health Order who attend Sacrifice Sunday on February 7th would put aside our own preferences and joyfully wear a mask throughout the entire service – including while seated, while singing, and while listening to the sermon – as a sacrifice of love for the most vulnerable. 

CURRENT PRAYER REQUEST:

Lihn Pham – This is the wife of Victor Pham, our Commons neighbor and VIP Nails owner. On Christmas evening she had a double brain aneurysm. She has had multiple surgeries and is still in a coma. Pray that the Lord will wake her up from the coma, restore her to complete health, and strengthen Victor’s faith and reliance on Jesus.
