The past few weeks we have been exploring different aspects of Jesus’ lordship and authority over life. In last week’s sermon, we saw how Jesus responded to the political questions of the chief priests and scribes as well as the theological speculation of the Sadducees. Jesus is the master at answering questions of skeptical people in a way that reveals what’s in their hearts. What comes out of our mouths comes from our hearts. There is a way to ask questions about faith without questioning the faith. The difference is our attitude for asking questions. Jesus offers answers to people who truly seek him, but he will have another response for those who are just trying to trap him. Which type of questions do you ask him?

Membership Matters
Sundays, April 3rd & 10th
1:30-3:30pm @ the Commons
We believe that the church is the family of God on the mission of God. We love one another as brothers and sisters. Yet we are also missionaries who are teaming up to advance God’s kingdom. We believe this is best lived out in the context of covenant membership in a local church. Becoming a covenant member means locking arms with others who have the same desire to know Jesus and make Him known in the world.
We are planning to host a Membership Matters class for all who are interested in learning more about covenant membership at KCC. We will meet on two consecutive Sunday afternoons, April 3rd and 10th, from 1:30-3:30pm at the Commons (521 W. 2nd St.). This is a time for people to explore what we believe and why we believe it. If you’re concerned about childcare, please let us know. We have people who would be willing to babysit for those who need it. If you can only make one session, you can still pursue membership. We can makeup the session by listening to the Membership Matters podcast. You can listen to these and then we will follow up with you. For more information about our covenant membership process or to sign up, click on the corresponding button below. If you would also like childcare, also let us know that.

Wellspring Fayette Update
After much prayer and discussion, the leaders of Wellspring Fayette have decided to discontinue the Sunday night worship gathering. But they will continue to host a small group gathering for Bible study and prayer twice a month. This decision was made over the course of many months and a lot of input from trusted mentors. Ministry Facilitator, Peter Rupp, concluded, “Perhaps one thing you can take away from this is that sometimes it is ok for things to end. Starting new things is exciting and exhilarating, but ending them can cause confusion and doubt unless we are at peace with the sovereignty, goodness, and love of God in all things.” Please continue praying for the connections in Fayette and that the Lord will continue to build His church there.

NEW CITY CATECHISM: Question 11
QUESTION: What does God require in the sixth, seventh, and eighth commandments?
ANSWER*: Sixth, that we do not hurt, or hate, or be hostile to our neighbor, but be patient and peaceful, pursuing even our enemies with love. Seventh, that we abstain from sexual immorality and live purely and faithfully, whether in marriage or in single life, avoiding all impure actions, looks, words, thoughts, or desires, and whatever might lead to them. Eighth, that we do not take without permission that which belongs to someone else, nor withhold any good from someone we might benefit.

BIBLICAL COUNSELING at KCC
Life is full of things to be discouraged about, and it can be overwhelming. We believe that Jesus offers real help, hope, and healing in the difficulties of life. We believe that the power of God’s Word and Spirit offers hope of life change from the inside out. So we offer biblical counseling to those needing the comfort and wisdom of Scripture. While we believe God can work through various methods of counseling, our lead counselor is certified through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). We also have pastors and other counselors who have received training from Faith Biblical Counseling, and are able and willing to counsel according to the Scriptures.
If you would like to explore meeting with one of our counselors, please fill out the contact form by clicking on the button below and we will try to match you with someone.
WE WOULD LOVE TO PRAY FOR YOU
We would love to pray for you! Some people think that only major crises of life are worth praying for, but the truth is that everyone needs prayer for something. James 4:2 says that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we do we often have false or impure motives. So the first step is to ask. So please come and let us pray for you in person at our Sunday worship gathering. Or, if you would like prayer now, just click the button below and fill out the form and we will pray for you.
