Jesus will come to judge. This is a precious and uncomfortable truth that the Bible teaches and that Sam preached about in last Sunday’s sermon. However difficult it may be for us to understand, it really is good news. In fact, the justice that Jesus will bring is part of the gospel. He is both the judge and the one who was condemned in our place to make us right with God. Jesus is the judge who will come to put an end to sin, Satan, and those who do evil. He will also judge in righteousness those who have put their faith in him. This should be a great comfort to all God’s children but a warning to those who reject Jesus. After all, it’s only the guilty who should fear punishment, but there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1). Praise God for His righteous justice!
Missions Meet & Greet w/Robert Manda
Sunday, August 7th
7pm @ 2nd Baptist Building
Next Sunday we will have the unique privilege of hosting Robert Manda, one of our ministry partners in Malawi, Africa. He is a pastor, church planter, and President of the Pastoral Training Institute of Africa. We have had a longstanding partnership with Robert. Just last March, Sam traveled to Malawi to meet up with Robert along with other ministry partners whom we support.
In addition to having Robert preach Sunday, August 7th, we will also be hosting a Missions Meet & Greet with him that evening at the 2nd Baptist church building (1945 E. 2nd St., Defiance) at 7pm. We don’t always get to hear about God’s work in Malawi from a local source, so come hear Robert. Desserts and drinks will be provided.

Helping Ukrainian Refugees
In the wake of the war in Ukraine, millions of people have been displaced. American churches have lamented yet struggled to know how to help believers in Ukraine. Tim and Bert Shiarla feel led by the Lord to get involved. They have been connected with Pastor Ervin in Slovakia. The church he pastors has been helping Ukrainian refugees with practical needs, such as securing apartments, paying for rent, and getting them jobs. They specifically requested prayer, but you can give online by clicking the button below or put a check or cash in the giving box (make sure to include “Ukrainian Refugee Fund” on checks and cash envelopes). Learn more above Pastor Ervin and how to get more involved by reading our blog post.

WE WOULD LOVE TO PRAY FOR YOU
We would love to pray for you! Some people think that only major crises of life are worth praying for, but the truth is that everyone needs prayer for something. James 4:2 says that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we do we often have false or impure motives. So the first step is to ask. So please come and let us pray for you in person at our Sunday worship gathering. Or, if you would like prayer now, just click the button below and fill out the form and we will pray for you.
