What is God like at His very center? That is what we have been exploring in the summer sermon series “God Is.” We have been exploring different attributes of God as He has revealed Himself in Scripture. Last week’s sermon was on God’s merciful and gracious character. Many people, even Christians, believe that God is a trigger-happy warden ready to punish anyone who gets out of line. Though there are many Scripture passage that could lead to this picture of God, but there are many more than display His merciful and gracious heart towards His people. Sure, God is just and will judge sin, but we cannot forget the common refrain in the Old Testament that God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and ready to show favor to thousands of generations to those who fear him.

LifeWise Volunteers Needed

Kid's Corner
This fall, LifeWise is beginning its 4th year in Ayersville, second year in Defiance, and first year in Tinora! In addition to these, there are 29 new LifeWise locations this year, bringing the total to 60, nationwide! Northwest Ohio is getting saturated with LifeWise Academies, bringing the gospel to public school students. Praise God! With this being said, there’s a need for more volunteers for Lifewise Defiance as well as Ayersville. Volunteering is a weekly one and a half hour commitment, and you’re basically a classroom assistant. If you love Jesus and kids, you can do it. They’re also looking for a backup bus driver. This is a great opportunity for retirees who want to be active with their faith. Contact Jenny Hanson if you want to volunteer: jennyhanson@lifewiseacademy.org.

Helping Ukrainian Refugees
Please GIVE by Sunday, August 21st

Kid's Corner

In the wake of the war in Ukraine, millions of people have been displaced. American churches have lamented yet struggled to know how to help believers in Ukraine. Tim and Bert Shiarla feel led by the Lord to get involved. They have been connected with Pastor Ervin in Slovakia. The church he pastors has been helping Ukrainian refugees with practical needs, such as securing apartments, paying for rent, and getting them jobs. They specifically requested prayer, but you can give online by clicking the button below or put a check or cash in the giving box (make sure to include “Ukrainian Refugee Fund” on checks and cash envelopes). Learn more above Pastor Ervin and how to get more involved by reading our blog post.

QUESTION: Should those who have faith in Christ seek their salvation through their own works, or anywhere else?

ANSWER*: No, they should not, as everything necessary to salvation is found in Christ. To seek salvation through good works is a denial that Christ is the only Redeemer and Savior.

*Children’s answer is the bold text

Psalm 91:11-13 – “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

YOUTH DISCIPLESHIP: Thursdays @ 6:30pm

Life is full of things to be discouraged about, and it can be overwhelming. We believe that Jesus offers real help, hope, and healing in the difficulties of life. We believe that the power of God’s Word and Spirit offers hope of life change from the inside out. So we offer biblical counseling to those needing the comfort and wisdom of Scripture. While we believe God can work through various methods of counseling, our lead counselor is certified through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). We also have pastors and other counselors who have received training from Faith Biblical Counseling, and are able and willing to counsel according to the Scriptures. If you would like to explore meeting with one of our counselors, please fill out the contact form by clicking on the button below and we will try to match you with someone.

We would love to pray for you! Some people think that only major crises of life are worth praying for, but the truth is that everyone needs prayer for something. James 4:2 says that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we do we often have false or impure motives. So the first step is to ask. So please come and let us pray for you in person at our Sunday worship gathering. Or, if you would like prayer now, just click the button below and fill out the form and we will pray for you.

We know that with many businesses and services being shut down, people are losing jobs and struggling to pay their bills. If you are in need of help, we would like to know. We have a Compassion Fund for this reason. Fill out the film below as best you can and we will follow up with you.
