What is God like at His very center? That is what we have been exploring in the summer sermon series “God Is.” We have been exploring different attributes of God as He has revealed Himself in Scripture. Last week’s sermon was on God’s merciful and gracious character. Many people, even Christians, believe that God is a trigger-happy warden ready to punish anyone who gets out of line. Though there are many Scripture passage that could lead to this picture of God, but there are many more than display His merciful and gracious heart towards His people. Sure, God is just and will judge sin, but we cannot forget the common refrain in the Old Testament that God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and ready to show favor to thousands of generations to those who fear him.

Helping Ukrainian Refugees
Please GIVE by Sunday, August 21st
In the wake of the war in Ukraine, millions of people have been displaced. American churches have lamented yet struggled to know how to help believers in Ukraine. Tim and Bert Shiarla feel led by the Lord to get involved. They have been connected with Pastor Ervin in Slovakia. The church he pastors has been helping Ukrainian refugees with practical needs, such as securing apartments, paying for rent, and getting them jobs. They specifically requested prayer, but you can give online by clicking the button below or put a check or cash in the giving box (make sure to include “Ukrainian Refugee Fund” on checks and cash envelopes). Learn more above Pastor Ervin and how to get more involved by reading our blog post.

NEW CITY CATECHISM: Question 33
QUESTION: Should those who have faith in Christ seek their salvation through their own works, or anywhere else?
ANSWER*: No, they should not, as everything necessary to salvation is found in Christ. To seek salvation through good works is a denial that Christ is the only Redeemer and Savior.

BIBLICAL COUNSELING at KCC
WE WOULD LOVE TO PRAY FOR YOU
We would love to pray for you! Some people think that only major crises of life are worth praying for, but the truth is that everyone needs prayer for something. James 4:2 says that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we do we often have false or impure motives. So the first step is to ask. So please come and let us pray for you in person at our Sunday worship gathering. Or, if you would like prayer now, just click the button below and fill out the form and we will pray for you.
