Jesus talked more about money than just about any other theme. Chad’s sermon last Sunday cut to the heart of the danger of wealth and riches. When it comes to wealth, James 5:1-6 offers a stern warning to those who amass wealth at the expense of others. What do you treasure? Money cannot satisfy. Rather, we should treasure Jesus above all else. In doing so, we will experience satisfaction that no amount of money can buy.
Guys’ Hangout
Friday, August 27th
7pm @ Putt-Putt Defiance
We are calling all guys to bring their A-game on Friday, August 27th @ 7pm for laser tag at Putt-Putt in Defiance. Of course, there are other things to do, such as go-karts, putt-putt golf, batting cages, and arcades. Each game ranges from $2-7, which can add up quickly, but the first one is on KCC. Feel free to bring sons at your discretion. All the games are family friendly and appropriate for school-aged children. No need to RSVP. Just show up.
Gospel Life Groups
The goal of Gospel Life Groups is to bring the gospel into everyday life as the family of God on the mission of God. They put the mission of the church (i.e., to make disciples of Jesus Christ) at the forefront of everything we do. Groups of 12-20 people get together in homes for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. In addition, each group serves in the community in some way to engage our community for the gospel.
Equipping Classes
Every Christian needs to be equipped for the work of ministry (Eph. 4:11). There are various ways we seek to accomplish this. But one way is through Equipping Classes. The purpose of Equipping Classes is to equip the people to grow deeper with the Lord by offering classes on various subjects so that they can in turn be able to better understand and apply the Bible to their lives and become a more effective gospel minister and lover of God and people. Simply put, Equipping Classes are topical, Bible-based instruction given in a classroom setting, usually offered twice a year (Spring and Fall).
We are meeting this fall every other week on Tuesday mornings @ 6:30am and an identical class every other Wednesday evenings @ 7pm. Both classes will be at the Commons. Nearly every GLG will meet 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, so we will have the Wednesday Equipping Class on the 2nd and 4th Sundays and the Tuesday Equipping Class will be the Tuesday before.
The topic of Equipping Classes this fall is on the Kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is a common theme in the Gospels, but what does it really mean? How does it affect my everyday life? That is what we will be exploring. Each lesson will have 10 or so pages of reading and discussion questions. In addition, there will be a link to a sermon to listen to and take notes. We will gather together every other week to discuss the workbook.
KCC T-SHIRTS
Almost a year ago, we decided to make a new KCC t-shirt. Well, after some complications, we finally got one made. Now it’s available. If you originally signed up for a t-shirt, we have them reserved for you. But we also have extras. So if you would like a KCC t-shirt, we have them available for $10 @ the YMCA.
BIBLICAL COUNSELING at KCC
Life is full of things to be discouraged about, and it can be overwhelming. We believe that Jesus offers real help, hope, and healing in the difficulties of life. We believe that the power of God’s Word and Spirit offers hope of life change from the inside out. So we offer biblical counseling to those needing the comfort and wisdom of Scripture. While we believe God can work through various methods of counseling, our lead counselor is certified through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). We also have pastors and other counselors who have received training from Faith Biblical Counseling, and are able and willing to counsel according to the Scriptures.
If you would like to explore meeting with one of our counselors, please fill out the contact form by clicking on the button below and we will try to match you with someone.
WE WOULD LOVE TO PRAY FOR YOU
We would love to pray for you! Some people think that only major crises of life are worth praying for, but the truth is that everyone needs prayer for something. James 4:2 says that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we do we often have false or impure motives. So the first step is to ask. So please come and let us pray for you in person at our Sunday worship gathering. Or, if you would like prayer now, just click the button below and fill out the form and we will pray for you.
